The Ecovillage at Currumbin is an international award-winning sustainable community located in south-east Queensland, Australia. The 270 acre site is set in the Gold Coast hinterland, 9km from Currumbin Beach.
The community is the most awarded estate in Australia with over 33 accolades, including “The World’s Best Environmental Development” (FIABCI Prix D’Excellence Award 2008). The 140 homes support a community of over 450 residents. The community is managed by a Caretaker and other support bodies.

The community contains over 20 different types of community facilities, including a community hall, kitchen, large pizza oven, bali huts, ball court, playgrounds, oval and cafe. It is also home to some 70 resident kangaroos and numerous other Australian wildlife. More information about village life is here. Testimonials from residents are here. A small number of homes are still to be built on Lots within the village. The Village Centre is in the process of being completed and will include a pre-school/childcare centre and smaller lot home studios.
Other businesses in the Ecovillage include Pasture & Co., Ground Grocer and The Bathhouse.

Hundreds of native animals exist on the site and the Ecovillage has been zoned Land for Wildlife. For this reason and others, dogs and cats are not permitted within the whole Ecovillage. (The only exception is a registered Guide or Assistance Dog.) The By-laws apply to all Ecovillage land and buildings and there is also a Council covenant on the land prohibiting dogs and cats in all private and public areas. Thank you to visitors, for not bringing unregistered dogs or cats into the Ecovillage.
